Binance charity fund is the latest to contribute to India's COVID relief efforts
AMBCrypto -

Binance charity recently announced its efforts to contribute to the India COVID relief efforts, by aiding with oxygen supply operations. India recently recorded the highest one-day tally of fresh COVID 19 in the past 24 hours. In the past week, many reports have showcased how COVID 19 patients died due to the unavailability of medical oxygen in hospitals across the country.

Binance, with its $200,000 crypto contribution to the relief efforts, will support its role as a delivery partner.

The official announcement shared by Binance’s CEO read:

Our charity team @BinanceBCF have so far located 175 oxygen connectors in available stock in Asia, cost roughly $200k, and it should arrive in Indian hospitals in 7 days. Still working on 1000 more. Our prayers go out to everyone in India fighting this pandemic. Stay SAFU! 🙏❤️

The philanthropic arm of Binance has been providing financial assistance, along with its blockchain infrastructure to India during the pandemic. Earlier in 2020, it partnered with Mumbai’s Makers Asylum to put together 43,000 face shields to be distributed in 30+ hospitals, police stations, and NGOs across India.

However, Binance is not the only one extending “crypto-help” during these difficult times in India. Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin, a couple of days ago, contributed 100 ETH and 100 MKR, worth approximately $606,110 at that time for covid 19 relief in India. Balaji Srinivasan, a former Coinbase CTO and board partner at VC firm Andreessen Horowitz donated $50,000 in ETH and following the footsteps of Vitalik. On the other hand founder of Tron Foundation, Justin sun donated 2 million TRX to the India Covid relief.

Famous crypto enthusiast and cricketer, Bret Lee too contributed 1 BTC to the crypto relief fund.

“It saddens me deeply to see people suffering due to the ongoing pandemic. I feel privileged to be in a position of making a difference and with that in mind, I’d like to donate 1 BTC (Bitcoin) to Crypto Relief to help with the purchase of oxygen supplies for the hospitals across India.”
