Coinbase, the popular US-based cryptocurrency exchange, has some serious competition when it comes to their newly released cryptocurrency enabled visa debit cards. Just recently, another crypto Visa card by Crypto.com has secured more than 100,000 card reservations across the United States and Europe.

In an interview with Cryptonews.com, Kris Marszalek, the co-founder and CEO of Crypto.com (also known as “CRO Protocol Labs”), said:

“We are going to launch in the US soon, and Europe will follow shortly after. It’s going to be the only cryptocurrency card available globally this year. We think that we have a product that’s very competitive even against major banks. Currently, we have over 100,000 card reservations. That global rollout is a big part of our strategy to increase the size of the platform.”

Crypto.com’s MCO Visa Card vs. Coinbase Card

The cryptocurrency Visa card market is heating up as more and more companies enable retail cryptocurrency payments through Visa debit cards.

Crypto.com’s MCO visa crypto card is accepted by all retailers that accept Visa, and has already been available in Singapore since October 2018. With its new expansion across Europe and the United States, Crypto.com’s Visa card will be the first globally available crypto card this year.

According to Marszalek, Crypto.com’s services – including their Visa card, crypto wallet, crypto credit, and crypto invest – boast 400,000 users in total. While this is impressive, Marszalek failed to comment on how many users the crypto Visa card alone has.

As for the Coinbase crypto card, it is only available to Coinbase clients in the UK, and will only become available to unspecified European countries in the coming months. Coinbase has not announced any plans to offer its card to the US or any Asian markets as of yet.
